weekend rwd

  • What a thrill to see people trust Christ – that is a soul miracle! Loved seeing people raise their hand trusting Christ; loved seeing them talk to a prayer counselor; loved having the opportunity to meet a couple of them after getting saved!
  • I really enjoyed Lifesong – so proud of my Alma mater. Great kids with a great heart for ministry!
  • I am so excited about our students who are choosing Christian colleges and universities to receive their secondary education.
  • Our 11am service was packed!
  • Had about 20 at Get Connected and we had a great time over a great lunch.
  • God has some phenomenal things in store for Parkview!!!
  • Got to hang out with a prospective church planter in the afternoon and that was fun!
  • Seemed like we had a great response to the ministry opportunities. Loved seeing people around the table signing up!
  • So thankful today for our staff and leaders. Every weekend is an experience of Life Change because of you! Thanks for embracing our value of Going the Second Mile!
  • The weekend was different with my wife not being around but I am so glad she was able to get away for a several days!!
  • We did have an incident this weekend – Seth shut his thumb in the car door. I mean really shut it in the door! It was looking a little better this morning.
  • Hope you have a great week and can invest relationally into someone who is far from God.

Weekend Recap

  • I am sitting in the library reflecting on this past weekend and getting ready to crack the books for next weekend.
  • As I said recently, the weekends come with amazing regularity:)
  • I am so grateful for elders, staff and leaders who create time for me so that I can study! Thanks so much to each of you!
  • Every time someone thanks me for a message I recognize that it is a team effort in many ways.
  • To every person who thanks me for a sermon or thought, please know I appreciate your kind words and most importantly trust that my words are bringing life change. When I say my words, I recognize I am the mouthpiece and it is God’s Word that ultimately brings life change.
  • Love being his mouthpiece!
  • Love preaching at Parkview!
  • I have been wrestling with what I guess is allergies. Have had alot of drainage going on and by the end of the weekend my throat has been feeling raw. That ice cream fix last night seemed to help:)
  • I also never turned my mic on Saturday night – that didn’t help! Hard to believe I can preach a whole sermon and not realize my mic is off!!
  • Could have used this quote in my message this week – “You cannot make God stop loving you. If you try, you’ll fail, because his love is based on who HE IS, not what you’ve done.” – Rick Warren
  • Casting Crowns has a song born out of that truth.
  • Enjoyed Mother’s Day with my wife, mom and grand mom! Nice to spend the holidays with family.
  • Randy Poyner’s memorial service was beautiful!
  • The pastoral care team did a phenomenal job!! So many people served in so many ways.
  • Really excited about the future of Parkview!!!
  • Click here for the link to my notes and here to listen
  • Let me encourage you with some random thoughts – protect your margin, invest in relationships so you can invite others to Christ and stay plugged into your small group – life changes happens in community!
  • Be blessed!

Weekend Wrap Up

  • I love our church
  • I love every weekend at our church
  • I  love the people of our church
  • I love preaching at our church
  • I feel so blessed
  • We had a staff luncheon yesterday with newcomers to Parkview – had a nice time!
  • Special thanks to all who took supplies to Life Coast Church for tornado relief. There was a good response – thanks for your generosity!
  • Strong post-Easter attendance
  • I feel like we are on the verge of another growth wave!
  • We need to stay focused on our spiritual health and I believe God will take care of the numerical growth.
  • Our priority is health, understanding that healthy things grow.
  • I am thankful for our worship team.
  • I have been reading in the Psalms and am being challenged by all the directives in regards to worship.
  • Every worshiper should read through the Psalms – read 5 a day and read the entire book in 1 month.
  • We should all be worshipers!
  • Love the new series we are in – The Person I Want to Be
  • This weekend’s message was very challenging to preach
  • I have so much to learn
  • I have so much room to grow
  • Thanks for all the encouraging words – the message was so well received. I think we are fellow strugglers!
  • If you missed the weekend you can click here to listen
  • Part of my commitment was to become more tech savvy this year – as a result I figured out how to post my sermon notes.(thanks Steve!) Click here to read my notes. From time to time people ask me what my notes look like when I go to the pulpit. The hard copy I take to the pulpit actually has a few things crossed out, a couple notes in the margin and alot of circling and underlining.
  • Have a great day!

Easter Rewind

  • Easter was CRAZY – crazy good!
  • A crazy number of people trusted Christ as Lord and Savior – over 30 raised their hand, not sure yet how many saw counselors and received information.
  • A crazy number of guests
  • A crazy number of our people who brought guests
  • A crazy attendance – the largest in our history. Interesting that this was the first Easter ever we did not do a mass mailer. We thought we would see what would happen if we equipped, empowered and encouraged you guys to invite your friends. Home run – church family!!
  • Crazy creativity – Derek and every level of his team did a phenomenal job!
  • Crazy volunteerism – SO MANY people stepped up to the plate to serve in big ways!!!
  • Crazy synergy when people link up and serve together
  • Crazy energy – so many people gave all they had! It took almost an entire 2 liter of Coke for me to speak at all 4 services.
  • Crazy beautiful at our sunrise service – beyond words gorgeous!
  • Crazy long – oops our services went longer than intended:) Nobody complained!
  • Crazy great – the service was simply tremendous
  • Crazy emotional – in one of the services I went up into the sound booth and looked over the crowd and started to cry!
  • Crazy overwhelmed for a minute – thinking who is going to minister to all these people!
  • Crazy tired when it was all finished!
  • Crazy energized as I think about the future of Parkview!
  • Saturday night was uniquely crazy – with all we had going on (drama; massive music with choir, band and orchestra; communion; 2 videos and a sermon that included a clarion call to faith) plus getting used to a new stage, lighting, sound, etc.  We had more glitches than normal on Saturday night but I think it was more apparent to those of us who knew what was going on behind the scenes. God was glorified in our weakness.
  • Crazy thrilled for Scott Kirschner and Christ the King Community Church in Port Orange – they had their first Easter service and topped 100 in attendance for the first time! We celebrate with them!

Random Weekend Thoughts

  • Sometimes it is hard to put in words just exactly what the weekend experience is like.
  • Loving the parables – never realized all the incredible truth contained in these stories but we are unpacking them together
  • The purpose of Scripture is not information but transformation
  • Obedience is the verification of salvation
  • Jesus didn’t meet the expectations anyone had and He was ok with that because He sought to please One audience
  • So many people live under the burden of peoples expectations – an expectation is only valid if both parties agree on it – stop living under expectations you have not agreed to!
  • The moron (had to be there) builds his house on the sand
  • The moron statement didn’t quite come out right in the 9:30 service – God has a way of keeping me humble!!
  • God’s Word is not just for our eyes and ears, but also for our feet and hands
  • Build your life on the rock
  • The rock is obedience to God’s Word
  • James 1:22, I John 2:3
  • When the storms come those who build their lives on the Rock will stand
  • The storms will come Matt 5:45
  • Great to see the faithfulness of so many!! So many people have decided to not play games but to forsake all and follow Him!
  • Love our volunteers! Thanks for showing up on time when scheduled and sharing the love of Christ by being the hands and feet of Christ!
  • Met some really nice new people
  • Not everybody that visits our church likes it – that is a real random thought, but true!
  • I love preaching at Parkview!
  • Not to late to go on our mission trip to Hendersonville in 2 weeks (Thurs-Sun Palm Sunday weekend) If you are interested in going email Robin at robinj1@aol.com
  • VERY MOVING missions video we showed this weekend!!!!!
  • God has a different scoreboard – I want more people to hear His Word, He wants more people to obey His Word. I think He is right!!
  • I went to a conference this past week that rocked my world!
  • Please continue to invest/invite!
  • Easter weekend is a phenomenal opportunity to extend the invite!!

Weekend Rewind

  • Jesus is the master storyteller!
  • His parables are awesome!
  • I am excited about our upcoming baptism!
  • If you need to take the next step and go public with your faith email John Williams (john@parkviewlife.com) He will help you with this next step!
  • Met a lady who came a few weeks ago and brought 2 friends this weekend.
  • Personal invitations are the best way to have people visit our church.
  • Can’t wait for Easter weekend!!!
  • We will be announcing some strategic ways that we are reaching out to our city and inviting them to celebrate the resurrection of the Divine!
  • We have an element that will be a part of our Easter service that we have never done before – it is going to be incredible!!!!
  • The cafe’ has really provided a great environment. Fellowship at a new level!!
  • I am out of town for a few days this week at this conference. I cannot tell you how much I need the learning and growing that I am about to experience. Pls pray that God does a work in my heart!
  • I need to run but I can’t help but say how much I love pastoring Parkview!!!

Weekend Wrap-up

  • This weekend was intense
  • Saturday morning started with a special elder meeting. I won’t go into details but it was just really good on so many levels. Love those guys!
  • Spent a little bit of time trying to get my new office together.
  • Spent a good bit of time in the afternoon going over my weekend message.
  • Every weekend is a spiritual, mental and emotional strain. I can’t describe what it is like to prepare to birth a sermon. The longer I do it the more intense the process seems to become. I love both the preparation and the delivery but it is just intense – not to mention the spiritual warfare that seems to ensue. The enemy digs his heels in and stands in opposition.
  • I knew that this weekend would be the weekend in this series that would have a heavy salvation emphasis – that ratchets up the intensity!
  • PRAISE GOD for the response to His offer of redemption – in our 3 services we had about 15 people raise their hand indicating they prayed to receive Christ. It was good after each service to see people down front receiving both encouragement and information in regards to their commitment to Christ.
  • People coming to faith is the highest level of LIFE CHANGE!
  • A special thanks to all those who serve at Parkview. I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU DO – IF YOU SERVE IN ANY CAPACITY YOU HAD A PART IN THOSE WHO CAME TO CHRIST! It is a total team effort!
  • Yesterday afternoon Denise and I were privileged to have lunch with some dear friends.
  • After lunch we had an appointment that had been requested by a couple in our church. They expressed love to us in a way that blew us away. This dear couple have been prayer warriors that have stood by our family in a very special way, then yesterday they once again ministered to us.
  • After that appointment we went to the first week of our Get Connected class – we had a wonderful time meeting new friends and establishing new relationships. Once again, I am so thankful for the new people the Lord is sending our way.
  • After Get Connected we had the opportunity to stop by and see Randy Poyner. He is now at Grand Oaks rehab center. Please continue to lift Randy up n your prayers!
  • After that we had one more stop our family needed to make and then we arrived home and collapsed in bed. It was a great feeling of tiredness – having given our all to Him.
  • This morning I have spent time in the Word, done a little bit of work, am attempting to catch my breath, will go for a run in a few minutes, will spend some time in extended prayer and then later today will begin the work on my Easter sermon. When Seth gets out of school I will hang with him and then tonight we have dinner with our missionaries JJ and Melissa Alderman. JJ and Melissa leave in just a few days to return to Togo.
  • I want to celebrate with our church family in regards to the generous offering that was received for the Aldermans a couple weeks ago. Because of your generosity, our gift to them was $2,000. What a wonderful kingdom investment!!
  • I continue to have conversations with those who are participating in our 40 days of prayer and fasting. Let me encourage you to in some way and at some time fast from food to feast on God. If you cannot fast from food then give up something and make Him the center of your attention.
  • Be blessed as you forsake all and follow Him!

Weekend Wrap-up

A few reflections in the rear view mirror about this weekend:

  • I am really enjoying teaching on the parables!
  • This has probably been one of my most challenging series ever when it comes to study. I didn’t realize all that I was biting off! While it is challenging, I am really enjoying what the Lord is showing us!
  • I now agree with the advice Chuck Smith was given – Pastor for at least 30 years before attempting to preach the parables.
  • Really wish our construction project would get finished! There have been some snags in getting stage finished.
  • Apparently a number of people felt that attending church on time change weekend was to much to ask. I don’t know what else to conclude when I know the weekend before we had about 100 more people in attendance.
  • On Saturday night I forgot to talk about our 40 days of prayer and fasting. 40 years of age is taking its toll:)
  • I visited Dr. Poyner Sunday afternoon and he was having a hard day. A particular medicine is making him nauseated.
  • Sunday afternoon I went with 3 others form our church and shared communion with a 94 year old lady who is unable to get out. It was a sweet visit!
  • I continue to be so blessed by all the wonderful volunteers who serve the Lord so faithfully at our church!!
  • A favorite part of my weekend is meeting the new friends that the Lord is sending to our faith family!!
  • One of the things I love most about Parkview is the many wonderful friendships that I have – I love being loved – doesn’t everyone?
  • I am looking forward to our sending a team to Grace Church in Hendersonville, TN for their opening service on Palm Sunday weekend. Our team will serve Thursday through Sunday, April 14-17. You can get more info on our website www.parkviewlife.com or contact Robin Grow at robinj1@aol.com.
  • Have a blessed week!

Weekend Thoughts

  • My body is asking me what in the world I did to it this weekend :)
  • Thankful for the opportunity God has given me to give my all to Him!
  • Visited with Dr. Randy Poyner yesterday. He is still in ICU but they had him sitting up in a chair and we talked for about an hour. He reminisced about the old days. It was a sweet time.
  • I am amazed at how much I enjoy church at Parkview every weekend.
  • Seeing people serve the Lord and use their talents for Him always thrills my heart.
  • We have incredible volunteers!
  • Great to see so many new people connecting.
  • Loved launching our new series, Parables.
  • I felt like there was no way I could do justice to Matthew 13:44 – powerful passage!!
  • If you missed the weekend please listen online. I shared some info that really layed out important information in order to be able to understand the purpose for parables. www.parkviewlife.com/sermons.asp
  • I am so excited for our missions teams going to Togo and Cambodia. They had a great turn out for the information meeting yesterday.
  • I have a number of emotions connected to our 40 days of prayer and fasting. We have invited the whole church family to join us for at least one day during the next forty days. We will fast from food to feast on God.
  • Tomorrow I will post some more thoughts on fasting.
  • Looking forward to a profitable week.

  • Home run testimonies – those who went to Cambodia really experienced a life-changing event
  • Fantastic worship
  • Loved missionaries skyping in!
  • The lobby was packed with people getting information and signing up for trips in 2011.
  • JJ and Melissa Alderman are the real deal and it was our privilege to host them!
  • God is using them in a mighty way and we are privileged to partner with them.
  • We had great attendance – guests are coming and staying!
  • There should be some more major improvements to the auditorium this week as we put on the final touches.
  • LOVE our new space!
  • God is great and greatly to be praised!
  • Let us walk in humility and faithfulness!
  • I dare you to take a missions trip in 2011!!!!
