Together for the Gospel

Yesterday and today have been a ton of fun!!

It began Monday morning with Denise and me loading in the car and heading to Davenport, Florida. Davenport is just outside of Clermont in what is known as the Four Corners area. This area is very close to Disney.

Our very dear friend, Joel Johns, went to Davenport and started Cornerstone Church back in 2002. Prior to launching, I remember Joel and Amy visiting with us here at Parkview for the weekend. After church we went and sat in a booth at Woody's down on Hwy. 100, dreaming out loud about what this new church plant could look like. Soon thereafter, I remember my brother, Barry, leading our student ministry to go down to Davenport and canvassing an entire area of the community inviting people to come check out this brand new church. Over the last 15 years Joel and I have become very dear friends.

Since 2002 Joel and the people of Conerstone have been in rented facilities - that all changed 2 weeks ago when Cornerstone moved into its brand new facility.

On Monday, Joel hosted the statewide BBF meeting. This is a gathering of pastors that come for the purpose of encouragement. We enjoyed great food, fellowship, worship in song and preaching of the Word. Their were 3 sessions and I was honored to bring the Word in the closing session.
Joel was a fantastic host and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. His new 13,000 sq ft+ facility was absolutely awesome. Joel and his team did a fantastic job on bringing a tremendous vision into reality. It was an incredible Monday!

As I awoke to Tuesday, I once again awoke with excitement. Earlier today I had the opportunity to lead a group of 18 pastors through a book study, Gospel Centered Discipleship. Click here for the cliff notes that I passed out to the pastors.

Just after 11am Pastor Chad and I drove over to Palatka and met the guys in a private room at Corky Bells. I have shared with our church before that I have the privilege of serving the pastors of our local association. We had a great time of learning and interacting. I was honored to serve the pastors that gathered. Prov 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another".

I don't normally get to invest in other pastors 2 days in a row so this was a real treat. My pastor, Tom Messer, has always challenged me to steward wisely the leadership God grants to me. In addition to the grace of God, in large part I am where I am today because of all the time my pastor and other pastors and leaders have invested in me. The years I have spent at Parkview, along with the people of Parkview, have taught me so much and I want to pass on whatever learning possible. I love serving the King and His kingdom!!
